Have you thought about bundling the entire game into the CP, along with all the updates, so you basically just download, install, and play?
Also, at this point, is there any reason to include the "lower quality maps"? Why not just release a single CP, and cull those old maps that nobody want's to play at this point?
Just a thought.

I'm not 100% sure if it is entirely possible to patch the game without it being ran once on the target system, so making it an install and play thing might not work. That said, I'm a few days away from releasing a significantly re-organized version of the CP and updater that would be a first step towards a standalone installer if it is possible.

You can simply copy the Atari folder to a new system, and execute the Nerf.exe and it will run.
If you want to create the file associations, (i.e. clicking on a .NRF file will open it with nerf.exe), you can set those in the installer. There's really no reason why you couldn't just bundle the few odd files which you don't already bundle.
Looks like it's a registry entry:
learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versi...&redirectedfrom=MSDN
nsis.sourceforge.io/File_Association
It would just be very convenient to download one exe, install it, and be done.

Well yes and no. If you're talking about a vanilla, untouched install, just copying it over is insufficient. The .ini files have to be generated by the application, and then those .inis have to be patched to restore multiplayer and fix a few other features. I can put all the non ini files into the updater, and with enough time and updates it might eventually come to that just from updates alone, but it wouldn't remove the necessity of running the game once before patching the ini... at the moment at least. I have some plans to get around this limitation soon for the CP 3.7.
